“There are no scientifically justified obstacles to protecting biodiversity in all its beauty and diversity. There are only six years left to achieve the biodiversity targets by 2030. We must work together now to achieve this.” This is why more than 60 experts have come together for the second time this year to bundle up the “10 must-knows from biodiversity research”. ZNU researcher and corsus – corporate sustainability GmbH Managing Director Dr. Ulrike Eberle will also be there.
Why is this important? From abstract research, it is important to show politicians and society concrete ways in which biodiversity can be effectively preserved at local, national and European level.
The10 Must-Knows 2024 are:
1. Achieving climate and biodiversity protection together
2. Enabling a healthy life on a healthy planet
3. Paying attention to undiscovered biodiversity
4. Combining linguistic, cultural and biological diversity
5. Reconciling the diverse use of forest ecosystems and biodiversity conservation
6. Transforming agricultural and food systems
7. Protecting land and resources
8. Achieving transformative change through international cooperation and education for sustainable development
9. Ensure free access and open use of biodiversity-related data
